( As we all know Mac and Adobe are sworn enemies each looking to undermine the other.) I was worned of upgrading the Mac OSX to anything later than 10.12.6 Another abaondoned step child deserted by it's father, is the morePROFESSIONAL EDITING SYSTEM FINAL CUT PRO 7. The work around is to use an older version of After Defects like 4 which boots fine and jolly. CS6 works in Sierra perfectly, including Photoslop. A lot of money spent on not being able to use the program. Sorry I write directly to you, but I find it very difficult, no - impossible to reach any help from any Adobe-employee. But the system must be able to see that it's the same computer? Do you know if it is completely impossible to get it back? I installed in on my old mac and then this mac - so i used my 2 downloads. I have done as former posts recommend Log-ind and click the small box for downloading Illustrator on my computer, but right before it comes up with an "Error number xx" (can't remember it right now). Last time a guy from India wanted me to download something and pay him money for the download. I was wondering if you could help me getting back my Illustrator? (my absolute favorite) I accidentally deleted it from my computer and when I look up in Adobes forum about this I run my head against the wall. In short, I'm guessing that the OS would probably work on the 2009 MacBook, but whether or not you get a display is the place one would get hung up.I have a problem with my Adobe CS6 package, which I also many years bought and installed. Obviously Hackintosh folks got around this, but you'd have to dig back to find notes from the Tiger days.
The only other thing that might catch you is that the Tiger installation scripts might not recognize the motherboard/Gestalt ID of the newer machine and could stop right there. However, this would not be easy and requires rebuilding kext plists and all sorts of magic that is not trivial. After I have downloaded the macOS High Sierra installer from the Mac App Store, opening it says: This copy of the 'Install macOS' application is too old to be opened on this version of macOS.

That being said, if you can somehow convince the Mac to install Tiger, you could look into editing the plist files that identify the list of GPUs and try to pick one that is "close enough". I have macOS Catalina installed and I want to downgrade back down to macOS High Sierra.

Unlike Windows, OSX is very picky about GPU drivers and if it doesn't recognize the PCIe ID of a GPU it won't fail-over to a basic VGA mode like Windows would. I believe a 2009 MacBook shipped with an ATi Radeon 9000 series which support might be in Tiger for, but most likely not since the PCI Express ID signatures would probably get missed and thus you'd have no video. 2006/2007 had a mixture of nVidia, ATi/AMD and Intel graphics. So while the chipset probably didn't change much between the C2D machines, what would have changed was the GPU they shipped with it.

Operating systems need to know how to speak to this more so than the CPU since this is all the distinct services for the x86 platform. Simply put, this is where you get the interface to memory, PCI lanes, USB, etc. An example from the C2D days is the Intel P45. the main support chip(s) that are required for the CPU. The one thing that is a fairly low-level "make or break" factor on Intel hardware is the combination of CPU and the Intel "chipset", i.e. All of the C2D machines presumably have a 64-bit EFI whereas the older "Core Duo" (note no '2') were 32-bit. The last version of Tiger was released around November of 2007 by which time Apple would have been shipping only Leopard (10.5) with new machines. Tiger would have supported Code 2 Duo (C2D) machines since some were introduced in 2006 during Tiger's reign. Probably not, but there is a slim chance.
